Baseline Concussion Testing with Banner Health & Arizona FC

Baseline Concussion Testing

Concussion Baseline testing is a series of performance tests used to gather information about how a person functions in a normal state and is performed by the Banner Sports Medicine and Concussion Center. This information could then be used to compare performance if that person should ever sustain a concussion. It is important to note that this testing is not intended to be a diagnostic tool.

We administer the ImPACT test in a group setting for up to 25 athletes/clients. The ImPACT test is a widely used neurocognitive test that measures multiple aspects of cognitive function including attention span, working memory, sustained and selective attention time, response variability, non-verbal problem solving and reaction time. It is a test that is used widely by the NFL, NHL, MLB and most Division I institutions.

Your athlete’s information is then securely stored by ImPACT online and accessible via Passport ID for any ImPACT-trained provider. This Passport ID will be sent out by your group leader following the completion of the baseline testing. We will have Banner Concussion Center staff members onsite during testing to answer any questions.

Arizona FC & Banner Health

Players 11 years old and up will be included in baseline concussion testing starting the 2020/21 season. We feel it is very important to set the baseline for our players not only to get them back on the fields after healing properly but it is equally if not more important that we protect their future.
